Drawings

“Fior”
This was one of my later charcoal drawn portraits. After high school I lived in Downtown Seattle and attended figure drawing classes at North Seattle Community College. The class was mostly beginning students but it allowed me to explore my talents and develop my skills. I later transferred to the Seattle Central campus and continued figure drawing there with live models. “Fior” was a woman from my apartment complex who befriended me, and ultimately became the basis for a non-fiction novel entitled “The Parking Lot”

“Derry”
Gary Derry (pictured at left) was one of my favourite classmates in my early drawing classes.I do not remember much about him, except for his personality, which was exceptionally friendly and humble. For a few months we shared traveling stories and drew portraits of one another. This piece was my final drawing for the class.

“Roses”
This drawing of the roses (pictured at right) was made by observing some “double delight” roses, a hybrid of white and pink roses that my mother grew in her garden. I made this drawing in junior high school to give to a schoolmate I was fond of. I dreamed that the exchange would end badly which proved true as my gift was I with it were rejected. I keep this drawing as a remembrance of the significance of my dreams.
